Grand Rounds Spotlight: Dr. Gregory Levitin Presents on Vascular Birthmarks at SUNY Downstate
Dr. Gregory Levitin was a featured Grand Rounds speaker at the Department of Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery at SUNY Downstate on March 5, 2026. His presentation, “When Vascular Birthmarks Impact Function: Surgical Management of Hemangiomas and Capillary Malformations in the Head and Neck,” offered an in-depth look at the surgical strategies employed when vascular birthmarks in the head and neck region affect patient function and quality of life.
Grand Rounds at SUNY Downstate serves as a cornerstone of the department’s continuing education mission, bringing nationally recognized experts to share their expertise with Otolaryngology, Audiology, Speech, and Language Pathology professionals, as well as colleagues from related disciplines. Invited guest lectures take place during the 7:00–8:00 am hour each week at the SUNY Downstate campus.
Dr. Levitin’s talk addressed the clinical complexities of managing hemangiomas and capillary malformations — lesions that, while often considered cosmetic concerns, can present significant functional challenges when located in the head and neck. His expertise in the surgical management of these conditions provided attendees with practical insights applicable to their clinical practice.
