Before joining Brain and Spine Surgeons of New York in 2006, Dr. de Lotbinière spent 17 years at Yale University School of Medicine (YSM) as an Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery, where he created a program for stereotactic and functional neurosurgery and initiated the one of the first programs for stereotactic radiosurgery in the country. It was under his direction that a Gamma Knife was brought to Yale in 1998, the second to make its appearance in New England.
With a national reputation for properly diagnosing and surgically treating nerve disorders such as trigeminal neuralgia, Dr. de Lotbinière brings peace of mind to patients who have long searched for answers before coming to him.
“For example, people often have their teeth pulled or are treated for temporomandibular joint syndrome [TMJ] when the cause of their symptoms is actually trigeminal neuralgia, the symptoms being sudden shock-like excruciating attacks of facial pain, typically near the nose, lips, eyes or ears, that are either trigger evoked or occur spontaneously” he explains.
He was the Medical Director of the Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center at Northern Westchester Hospital (NWH) and is currently NWH’s Director of their Gamma Knife Program.
