Dr. Prasad received his medical degree in 2004 from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS),New Delhi—India’s top medical school. He trained in general surgery in England and went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
He then completed a general surgery residency at the University of Toledo Medical Center in Ohio, along with a research fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Wayne State University, Detroit.
To further advance his skills, Dr. Prasad pursued additional fellowship training in advanced minimally invasive surgery and interventional endoscopy at Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania. He returned to New York in 2018 to continue his surgical practice.
He treats a comprehensive range of conditions, including the following.
Abdominal Wall Conditions:
Groin hernias (inguinal, femoral, and obturator), umbilical hernia, incisional hernia, lumbar hernia, Spigelian hernia, and diaphragmatic hernia.
Digestive System:
Heartburn, acid reflux, hiatal hernias, Superior Mesenteric Artery (SMA) Syndrome (a rare condition where part of the small intestine becomes compressed, causing pain and digestive issues), colon and rectal conditions including diverticulitis, polyps, and colorectal disease, as well as gallbladder problems such as gallstones and gallbladder inflammation.
Obesity & Weight-Related Conditions:
Severe obesity and complications after bariatric (weight-loss) surgery, including reflux and heartburn, difficulty swallowing (dysphagia), internal hernias, nutritional complications and malabsorption issues, ulcers and strictures, and recurrent weight gain after bariatric surgery.
Skin & Soft Tissue:
Skin lesions, lipomas (benign fatty growths under the skin), and pilonidal disease (chronic infections near the tailbone).
