Welcome to the

Gastrointestinal Disease

Center of Excellence

The Digestive Discomfort Center of Excellence at the Institute for Specialized Surgery is dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and management of complex gastrointestinal conditions. Our team of gastroenterologists, surgeons, and multidisciplinary specialists focuses on gallstones and gallbladder disease, acid reflux and motility disorders, colorectal and rectal conditions, chronic abdominal pain, and other rare or often overlooked digestive disorders. We provide comprehensive care for both common and complex conditions using advanced diagnostic testing, minimally invasive surgical techniques, and personalized medical management.

Patients with digestive discomfort may experience pain, difficulty swallowing, heartburn, or other symptoms that impact daily life and overall health. At the Center, we offer a wide range of procedures and therapies including laparoscopic gallbladder removal, hiatal and paraesophageal hernia repair, anti-reflux surgery, colorectal surgery, and interventions for rare vascular compression syndromes such as Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome (MALS) and Superior Mesenteric Artery (SMA) Syndrome. We also provide multimodal care for obesity, including lifestyle and behavioral counseling, nutritional support, medications, and bariatric surgery.
